It would be easy to add vast numbers of links which can probably be better provided by a search engine so I shall limit myself to some places I find of use and pleasure instead.

The Square is England’s independent Masonic magazine brought to you by the world’s oldest Masonic publisher. I have been writing for The Square for over a decade and its content covers the whole spectrum of Freemasonry, including historical, social, charitable, esoteric, other Orders, collecting, ephemera, philately, book reviews, poetry, news and events, and on a lighter note Masonic humour. It also has an i-Pad app as well which looks good so it is possible to take some reading matter on holiday while others might choose to use the Kindle 🙂

One of the best sources of masonic informtion online is the Pietre Stones Review of Freemasonry. Over the years the content has grown greatly but it does repay the time spent exploring the site. Bro Bruno Gazza’s efforts have provided a valuable resource for the curious. There are, for example, papers by Brent Morris, Alain Bernheim, Leon Zeldis, Mark Tabbert, Andrew Prescott, Julian Rees, Yasha Beresiner among others.

Sadly there is not as much content on sites featuring Scottish or Irish Freemasonry. The rising star though is Bob Bashford’s aptly and simply named website irishfreemasonry.com which really gives one a flavour of the distinctive nature of the Freemasonry in Ireland. There are plenty of visual delights in the form of masonic artefacts and some interesting papers on the Royal Arch. Well worth a visit.

The quality of regalia seems to be somewhat indifferent these days, so much so that I am tempted to try a different wording for presenting an apron such as ‘this apron is made from the skin of a pvc’. There are some exceptions and I have recently purchased an apron from the Freemason Collection and the quality of materials and manufacture is simply far superior to the normal regalia much of which seems to be made to much lower standards. It will be a real pleasure to wear this apron!
