I have been invited to be one of the speakers at the Third Masonology Symposium, which will be held at Izmir  on  27th April 2013.
The main theme of the symposium is

‘The Challenges of Masonry in the 21st Century’

Details of the Symposium can be found at [www. to be inserted later]

One of the topics chosen is how a greater proportion of regular French brothers  may for the first time in a century become integrated into the broader European community of freemasons. I have chosen to speak on how freemasonry is going to adapt to the changing communication needs and behaviours of brothers – who own smart phones and tablets just as many brothers do across the world.

Some of the Turkish visitors to these Turkish language pages will have come here through using the QR code on their smart phones and others through the traditional typing in of the URL. The anticipation is that these pages will allow the Turkish brothers who attend the symposium to have the chance to become familiar with the background to the situation in France and thus appreciate better the presentations of the speakers. I am greatly indebted to my friend Bro Celil Layiktez for his translation of the original English text.

The process also demonstrated just how quickly information can flow – sometimes as web pages and sometimes as PDF versions of original documents. We all have to get used to this and will need to reconsider  how to adapt to these rapid changes in technology. Smart phones and tablets like the iPad will increasingly become the way that content is accesed from the omline community – that will be true for freemasons as the rest of the community. Those providing masonic content will have to offer it to their target audiences; and that will be the challenge!
